I acknowledge that I work on the traditional territories of the Indigenous peoples of the Treaty 7 region and the Michif Piyii (Métis Nation) of Alberta, Region 3, and I respect the histories, languages, and cultures of First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and all First Peoples of Canada, whose presence continues to enrich our community.
I also acknowledge the historical and ongoing harms caused by the fields of psychology and dietetics, including the pathologization of Indigenous ways of knowing, traditional food systems, and holistic understandings of health. I recognize that these harms have contributed to systemic barriers and health inequities for Indigenous peoples.
As I move forward, I commit to listening, learning, and taking action to support culturally safe, trauma-informed, and decolonized approaches to health and well-being. I strive to work in solidarity with Indigenous communities to honour and uphold Indigenous knowledge, food sovereignty, and self-determination in health.
